ABA therapists should consider using digital software for data collection because it provides a more efficient and accurate way to record and analyze data. Digital software allows therapists to track the progress of their clients in real-time, reducing the chance of human error and making it easier to identify areas that need improvement. With the ability to store data electronically, therapists can access it from anywhere, at any time, which makes it easier to collaborate with other members of the treatment team and to share data with parents and caregivers. In addition, digital software often includes powerful reporting and analysis tools, which enable therapists to quickly and easily identify patterns, track progress over time, and make informed decisions about their clients’ treatment plans. By using digital software for data collection, ABA therapists can not only save time, but also ensure the most effective and efficient treatment for their clients.

I’ve used about half of these over the last 5 years. I like BIPTrack and Hi Rasmus the best. I liked the Hi rasmus look and feel, but BIPTrack is better at capturing all of the different kinds of data we take. ReThink is not an ABA-focused product and felt more like kindergarten class management. CentralReach and Catalyst are stuck in the stone age, both are horribly complicated and difficult to make changes as you go. BIPTrack by far had the most features (and they were all included at the base price)- we have been very happy with BIPtrack.
We use Hirasmus. The interface is easy to use. I do wish it had more options for customizing our workflows (some of our kids are unpredictable session-based while others follow a strict school schedule)) and wish it had more customizable options for what you are tracking (especially “events that have events within them’). The note writing tools are pretty good too.
We used hirasmus early last year but started looking at catalyst in the fall so we could capture more info with behavior events. We are now doing a trial of biptrack. so far so good, does everything we need. It has options for events within events too. All data points can also require selecting or writing-in the antecedents, consequences, replacement behavior’s, etc. It is fully integrated with out school’s rostering and reports system too (didn’t’ cost anything extra)
Catalyst sucks. It shouldn’t even be in this top 10.
I signed a 12 month contract with 5 seat (account) minimum in 2018, set to auto-adjust as seats were added/removed.11/2021 stopped using service, kept 1 seat active expecting account to drop to 1 seat, as contract had expired.$980 being charged monthly since. I’ve withdrawn consent to debit my account in writing, but they’re ignoring that. Contacted company who told me that we were under contract (which I’ve attached) for 20 seat minimum until 10/2022 and will not stop withdrawing monthly. However, I am the only authorized signatory, and the contract was signed by a random unauthorized employee. I would think that makes the contract invalid. I don’t know if the fact that we’ve gone out of business negates a contract, but we have. Also, as the (invalid) contract I’ve attached states, the initial term would have been 12 months, ending in 10/2020. I’ve contacted them numerous times. The first time I spoke with *************************, who said that it was obvious that I wouldn’t have dropped down to one active account and expected to pay $1000, so I “obviously didn’t know about the contract. It shouldn’t be a problem getting you out of this.” Two days later he sent an email saying “We’ve found that the contract is binding.” They won’t even give an explanation as to how. The last time I emailed them, pointing out that their invalid contract had expired, was 12 days ago, and they’ve stopped responding altogether.. BUYER BEWARE
I had a similar experience with Central Reach! Once they got wind I wanted to leave, they made it so hard to do so. We’re using biptrack now. Monthly with no commitments. it is way better and costs less too. Should have started with them.
Central reach is selling their product to small new businesses, knowing it will not work for them. I bought into their salesman ways. I went through most of the training, scheduled and attended multiple live trainings to learn the program. At the time I was waiting on paper work to be completed so I did not have a client to enter into the system. Well they pretty much marked my training as complete and quit assisting me with company set up. This company promises you they will be there every step of the way to help you learn. Truth is they don’t care about the time and money you put into their program. All they care about is taking your money. I reached out multiple times explaining my frustration and concerns, no one was ever available for at least 2 weeks to help me or sometimes no help at all. When I finally said I’m done, it took 3 weeks to schedule a meeting about me wanting to cancel my contract. During the meeting they said they know it doesn’t work for small new business
I’ve never heard of half of these. thanks. We tried rethink and central reach and went back to using paper, but our district is forcing us to go digital by the end of may. Is it better to go app or something that works in a web browser? do the web browser ones work if you have no internet?
We use BIPTrack at our school because it allows all of our student therapies to be tracked in one place. We track data for ABA, SLP, and OT. I believe it has physical therapy in there too (and some other therapy type called “TIBA”, but I’m not sure what that is). We’ve had really good feedback from parents too.
TIBA stands for “Trauma-Informed Behavior Analysis”
Other types of ABA therapy are, Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI), Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), Natural Environment Training, Comprehensive ABA Therapy, and Focused ABA Therapy.
Catalyst has been regularly unreliable in terms of data syncing to the server, applications freezing, and data being completely lost. Our technicians are not able to exit the app without the app crashing. The catalyst app crashes numerous times through out session. We’ve been trying to get a refund for this unusable service, but they refuse.
Same. We switched to Aloha. Still have an active account with Catalyst, just waiting for it to expire. what a waste of money!
Catalyst is a serious dumpster fire
Imagine slowly freezing to death. If you are a ABA professional considering Catalyst RUN AWAY.
Pros: None. This product should be taken out back and put out of its misery.
Cons: No data integrity. Laughably bad support and up time.
YES! SOOOOO FRUSTRATING!
It has been too slow for the past 10 business days. 30 -45 second latency after commands. UNACCEPTABLE!
We use Accupoint. I like that it tracks my schedule and helps me see what sessions I have. It is color-coded for easy viewing. It has an easy switch from desktop view to mobile view. But it is not very user friendly and the visuals are poor. It looks outdated. It could be easier to edit my sessions that I submitted. It needs to have more options for entering time of sessions. I would use this if I had a smaller business but for a larger business it doesn’t seem to work very well.
